Alicia has also starred as Effee (Jennifer Hudson’s character) in the play Dreamgirls 4 nights a week in front of audiences of 350-500 different people. Alicia says she would love to play the role of Effee for the rest of her life and felt a very deep spiritual connection with the character.
Alicia has been a youth specialist at the Boys and Girls Club in her hometown of Cedar Rapids Iowa for over 13 years. Her motto is “I believe it all begins with our youth”. This opportunity has given her a sense of direction in life, helped her be a role model to her son, and make change in her community.
Alicia just released her first video to her single Change. The song embodies the contradiction of love, with the popular ultimatum "should I stay or should I go". Her goal with this song is to let the listener know that life goes on and you will be fine moving forward apart. As an artist Alicia Monee’s mission is to inspire young women to love, to be independent, and to be powerful. Her solo debut album is currently in the works and will be released under T1 Entertainment.
